UNON Director General message during the UNFCU 10th anniversary on May 17, 2013

I would like to welcome you to Nairobi.  I congratulate the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) for its 10th anniversary.  Since its creation in 1947 UNFCU has played a big role in serving the

financial needs of staff members of the UN, UN specialized agencies, former international civil servants and their families.  Its services expand in over 205 countries and territories for more than 100,000 members with close to a billion US$ in assets.

UNON is happy to host the UNFCU representative office in Nairobi.

This office was officially opened on 14 April 2003 by the then UNON Director General and UNEP Executive Director, Dr. Klaus Töpfer; and UNFCU CEO/President, Mr. Michael  J. Connery Jr.  At the time of opening, UNFCU had 1,180 members based in Nairobi and 6,400 members throughout Africa.

Today, UNFCU has 5,248 members based in Nairobi and 22,148 members throughout Africa.

I wish to thank the UNFCU Representative in Nairobi, Ms. Maggy Kigochi and the staff for their hard work and commitment in servicing their members.  I would like to seize this opportunity to thank UNFCU for this gesture and assure you of our continued support.
