Security and Safety

In recent years, the role of the Security and Safety Service at Gigiri has become more important - and UNON has proceeded to afford it greater staffing and logistical support. The service is in charge of every aspect of the day-to-day security at Gigiri, as well as the personal security of everyone working at or visiting the complex. It provides a comprehensive weekly security update for all staff, briefs new employees and those travelling to the field, undertakes inspections of employees' residential premises, and responds to calls from any staff member involved in a road accident. As well as providing a rapid response to all security breaches, the office continuously monitors the wider security situation in Kenya, keeps records of all security infringements and submits a monthly report to the UN Security Coordinator in New York.
