MEET THE TEACHER

VIVIENNE HELPS

Farmer, tax consultant, mother, NGO volunteer, report writer, UN consultant – I gained plenty of life experience before becoming an English language teacher 10 years ago.

Born in England, I have spent many years overseas, and for the past five years, I have been teaching English with the UN Language Programme in Nairobi.

My varied experience means that I can relate to most learners – whatever their background. Currently, lessons are online, but this doesn’t mean they are less interesting. Even online,

I ensure that classes are highly participative, with plenty of interaction between students.

‘Knowing how to teach is not only being knowledgeable but also knowing how to make people want to learn. As far as I am concerned, this point was reached: I was looking forward to each session, my curiosity had been aroused and I wanted to see “what’s next”!’

(Laurence Janin – feedback from ‘Report Writing in English’)

Welcome to a world of limitless possibilities, where the journey is as exhilarating as the destination, and where every moment is an opportunity to make your mark on the canvas of existence. The only limit is the extent of your imagination.
